Doubling Down on Florida: NSI Expands Geographic Footprint in 2023

NSI experienced a year of unprecedented growth in 2023 in response to the changing dynamics in the Florida market and urgent needs of a strained insurance industry. With ten acquisitions last year, the firm has strategically doubled down on its commitment to serving a diverse range of insurance needs, solidifying the agency’s position as Florida’s largest privately owned insurance firm. As a trusted partner for individuals and businesses throughout the state, NSI is committed to providing unique solutions for unique risks.

NSI has a deep understanding of Florida’s unique vulnerabilities. The firm added two new office catastrophe-exposed markets such as Naples and the Florida Keys, further demonstrating its unwavering commitment to serving Floridians, especially at a time when many insurers have halted writing new policies or pulled out of the state altogether due to increased climate risks and rising reinsurance rates. The two new offices solidify NSI’s foothold in two regions which have been heavily impacted by recent storms: Monroe County, which was struck by Hurricane Irma in 2017, and Collier County, which suffered widespread damage from Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Through the acquisition of several well-established insurance entities, NSI enhanced its capabilities, allowing the firm to continue catering to diverse market needs while providing more comprehensive solutions, further solidifying its position as an industry leader. In 2023, the agency successfully completed the following acquisitions:

  • Arnold and Barton Insurance
  • Otto Insurance Group
  • JAISIN Insurance & Risk Advisors
  • Preferred Link
  • Donna Carrara
  • Gallagher
  • First Choice Insurance Intermediaries – FCCI (retail business)
  • FedNat Underwriters (Umbrella MGA)
  • B&G
  • Risk Management Services

NSI has the technical expertise to serve the most sophisticated and complicated risks, while maintaining the flexibility of an entrepreneurial firm to customize service offerings. NSI’s clients are leaders in their respective industries, affording the firm’s team of professionals a deep understanding of the different industries its clients are doing business in and the unique needs of each sector.

The firm also transitioned to an employee ownership structure in 2023, giving employees a personal and financial stake in the success of their clients and work. The firm’s dedication to premier customer service was also recognized with “Best Practices Agency” status, placing the firm among the top-10 percent of agencies nationally and making it the only one in Florida to earn the distinction for eight consecutive years.
